Acorn Inn offers three charming lodging options, all including a generous "continental-plus" breakfast of homemade breads, muffins and fruit cobbler in season, with coffee, a selection of teas, hot chocolate, orange juice and fresh fruit.

The Inn, once a horse stable, is now a contemporary lodge filled with photographs, tapestries, masks and international folk art. It features ten carpeted bedrooms, a skylit lounge with cathedral ceiling, a soapstone fireplace, two kitchenettes, an 800-square-foot meeting room, a covered patio, and a wrap-around deck. (Click on the reservations page above for a floor plan of the Inn.)

The ten cozy bedrooms, formerly the horse stalls (still with their original doors), are brightly decorated with photographs and woodblock prints by Kathy, molas from Panama, framed museum posters, and colorful wall quilts handsewn by a local artisan. Each has a double bed, a desk, a wardrobe, a bedside table, a large window, reading lamps and individually-controlled baseboard electric heat. Central air conditioning and ceiling fans with lights keep the rooms fresh in warmer seasons. Several men's and ladies' bathrooms/showers are just a few steps away.

The prominent feature of the guest lounge (or "un-common room") is a massive and beautiful soapstone bake oven/fireplace made of locally-quarried stone by the Finnish company Tulikivi. Comfortable futon couches and soft Scandinavian chairs, magazines galore, fascinating artifacts to peruse, and an HD television with digital satellite programming, create a refreshing place to relax.

Guest Lounge

The cottage has a full kitchen, a bathroom with tub and shower, a bedroom with a queen and a twin bed, and a living room with a sofa that opens into a queen bed. It is ideal for anyone seeking more privacy or savings in meal preparation and a popular choice for honeymoon couples, small groups of close friends, and families with young children. The cottage fridge is stocked with baked breakfast goodies the night before.

Acorn Cottage

The Farmhouse, the innkeepers' home, is open only in the busiest seasons, or when the Inn and Cottage are filled. The two guest rooms have queen beds, hardwood floors, handsewn quilts, an eclectic mixture of South American art and photographs, and windows with views of mountains and meadows. These share a bathroom.

Downstairs, the living room has a soapstone fireplace, sofas, and plenty of reading material. Breakfast for those staying in the Farmhouse is served at the dining room table.
